El Centro campus of Northeastern University is located near the Kimball exit of the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago. The building was designed by JGMA and completed in 2013. El Centro offers degree programs in social work, computer science, justice studies and general education. El Centro is enclosed using the RWW 10000 Series system coupled with sweeping 20-inch-deep architectural ACM (aluminum composite material) fins, and ceramic tile at the ground level. Curtain wall panels along the perimeter of the floor plan allow the sunlit architectural fins to cast intricate shadowing on the interior walls of the wide corridors. While traveling on Kennedy Expressway, this boldly sculpted structure is hard to miss. Reflection Window + Wall provided a complete building enclosure utilizing the RWW 10000 Series unitized curtain wall system, architectural ACM fins, ceramic exterior wall panels, and stainless-steel soffit panels, beginning with technical services all the way to self-performed installation. |
