Situated in the heart of Little Italy in Chicago, this standout development is a 7-story mixed-income residential complex comprised of 73 apartments, and a one-story public library branch below. This civic and residential structure designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill was completed in 2019. The building’s upper levels set back, offset in layout, and stagger above the public library. The active Aztec brick and chestnut-colored finishes applied to projected corrugated panels run along varying short and large span windows that provide a dynamic finish while keeping with the scale, texture, and history of the neighborhood. The design and engineering teams of Reflection Window + Wall are mainly responsible for achieving this ideal project beauty while meeting performance requirements. The design used the RWW 9000 Series window wall system with Aztec brick and chestnut-colored finished projected corrugated metal panels at the interiors, 6’ wide floor-to-ceiling unit windows provide residents excellent views of downtown Chicago and maintain brightly lit spacing |
